New York City’s Central Park is probably best known as the most visited urban park in the United States and one of the most-filmed locations in the world. But it’s the natural attractions and their beauty that make it really special. Central Park offers hundreds of special highlights for individuals and families across 843 acres. From green meadows, sprawling waters, gardens and unique bridges to performance centers, educational facilities, and classical architecture, the park’s greatest attraction is its picturesque beauty.

Renting a bike is a great way to see it all. Enjoy the view and pedal at any pace desired, stopping along the way to explore at will. Visit Strawberry Fields, Cherry Hill, Tavern on the Green, Bethesda Fountain, Onassis Reservoir, Cleopatra’s Needle, the Dakota, the Alice in Wonderland statue, and much more.

Our bikes are late model Trek or Giant hybrid bikes. Ride for an hour or 24-hours. Enjoy the breathtaking views from flat, hilly, and scenic terrain. On a bike, it’s relatively easy to see a lot of the park in a short amount of time. Park rides provide three routes of varying lengths to choose from — 6.1 miles, 5.2 miles, or 1.7 miles. Ride one or ride them all.

Sightseeing in New York City by bike is an easy way to see more. Other nearby world-famous attractions include the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The MET), Times Square, and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Coined by American author Mark Twain, the Gilded Age in America lasted from 1870 to 1900. Once referred to as "Mansion Row," Sherman D. Phelps and his family built their home at 191 Court Street during this era. Now the last of its neighbors, this home has been preserved and is open to the public for tours, exhibitions, educational programs, and events.

Visit: Phelps Mansion Museum, 191 Court St, Binghamton, NY 13901-3503

Once part of a neighborhood filled with beautiful homes, the home of Sherman D. Phelps is the last of its neighbors.

Construction began in 1870 and the Phelps family moved into 191 Court Street in 1872. The house is full with marble floors, exquisite carved woodwork, period lighting fixtures, and period furniture. It also houses a collection of artwork ranging from paintings to frozen statues.

Sherman D. Phelps was a successful banker, businessman, and mayor of the newly incorporated City of Binghamton. His house is a legacy that tells of a time when Binghamton was growing in wealth, culture, and population.

The Phelps Mansion Museum is also an excellent example of the talent of one of New York State’s most famous 19th century architects, Isaac G. Perry. Perry was also known for his work on the New York State Capitol, as well as many buildings in the Binghamton area.

The museum is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 11am-5pm. Your ticket includes a guided tour. Tours are offered every half hour. The last tour begin at 4:30pm.

Come be a Kid again!  Visit the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum, located in the original Allan Herschell Company factory building, which houses a carving shop, paint room, assembly roundhouse, and loading dock. Explore the various rooms within the 7-structure complex. Ride a hand-carved and restored 1916 carousel. The Wurlitzer Music Roll Shop and four operating band organs play the music that makes the carousel ride magical. A Children’s Gallery provides hands-on learning and art activities for the entire family. An outdoor Kiddieland allows children to test-ride four Allan Herschell rides from the 1940s to the 1960s (Summers only). Admission fee and one ride token included. Tours are self-guided by brochure or cell phone.  Guided tours for 10 or more persons may be scheduled any time with advance notice.

Visit: Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum, 180 Thompson St, North Tonawanda, NY 14120-5420

The Herschell companies in North Tonawanda (located just 20 minutes from Niagara Falls, New York) produced over 3,000 hand-carved, wooden carousels. Many of their carousels were portable with simply carved horses, meant to be used by traveling carnivals. They were shipped all over the country. Today 71 of the 148 antique, hand-carved wooden carousels still in existence in the United States and Canada were made by Herschell. In the 1930s, the company started making small metal amusement rides for children and promoting a 'kiddieland' package to small businesses.

During a visit, view exhibits, watch a wood carving demonstration, listen to the magical sounds of a band organ, view the music roll-making shop, ride a 1916, hand-carved carousel, ride four kiddie rides (in the summer), and shop in an extensive gift shop.
